Here's a handy reference chart for standard hex bolt ft-lb torque values. Typically I like to use Grade 5 bolts for most things. For critical applications such as engine and brakes, please cross reference torque values with the Workshop manual.

According to Thomas J. Glover's "DeskRef", these torque specs are for coarse thread bolts. Increase these figures by 9% for fine thread. If you oil the threads with SAE 40 engine oil before installing, then reduce the torque by approximately 35%.

I have torque spec, tap and die and metric conversion sheets taped to the end of my tool box--it comes in handy.

Are the bolt sizes mentioned the diameter of the bolt, or the size of the wrench used?
