Good morning
I am the web editor for the site and was chasing information on the E series motor and other item that may have made there way to the Leyland plant in South Africa.
The other area that I am chasing whether the South Africans produced the Landrover with the E series E6 motor and if anyone has information too. We know that the SD1 was built with those motors

I worked in S/A,Botswana &Zambia from 1965 to 1981 and there were many types of Land rovers sourced from different places.
I believe the ones in Botswana came from South Africa .Zambia had its own plant assembling CKD from U.K.and there also were some S/A imports.
The S/A ones l saw came with either the U.K. 2.25l / the Atlantis 4 cylinder Diesel engine/and there was one model fitted with l think a 6 cyl BMW petrol engine around 2.6 lt.
The Atlantis diesel was a home produced engine from S/A if l remember correctly a Perkins design but there were many different types so open to correction on that and the BMW was sourced in country as well.
I can't remember seeing any with the E series engine although l did see a Morris Marina pick up fitted with that engine in a BMC dealer in Botswana
