There are two types of wombats - the marsupials known as the bulldozers of the bush (nuffin' stops them) and the banged up Series 1 Land Rover parked in my back yard
The vehicle id confirms that she was sold in Feb. 1956 to a farmer from Goulburn, NSW - I've got a picture of the sales record. The engine is a later, Series IIa, 2.25l petrol engine with an early type, 7:1 compression ratio head. Zenith carby.
I rescued her from a wreckers and she's in fairly sad shape. On a positive side note, there's only surface rust, no rot immediately apparent. The body has been banged around a bit.
The engine has been partially disassembled, down to the head gasket, so that has to be reassembled. On a positive note, the bores look good so with a bit of luck, gaskets and assembly will see her running again. I will be rebuilding the engine fully at some point but would prefer to get her on the road while I save up for it.
And now some pictures.
